Olive Oil Price in Uruguay (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average olive oil import price amounted to $4,101 per ton, which is down by -8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 20%. The import price peaked at $5,033 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Chile ($4,569 per ton) and Argentina ($4,563 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,768 per ton) and Italy ($4,277 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average olive oil export price amounted to $3,252 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 7.5%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,620 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,563 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,707 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (-2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Olive Oil Imports in Uruguay
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of olive oil and its fractions increased by 7.3% to 774 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment.
In value terms, olive oil imports shrank to $3.2M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 4.6% against the previous year.

Olive Oil Exports in Uruguay
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of olive oil and its fractions, when their volume decreased by -29.1% to 632 tons. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 139% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 891 tons, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, olive oil exports contracted rapidly to $2.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 129%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.9M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
