Olive Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average olive import price amounted to $2,947 per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, olive import price decreased by -1.3% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 95% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,199 per ton. From November 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +4.7% per month.
Olive Price in Poland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average olive export price amounted to $2,364 per ton, rising by 130% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 202%. The export price peaked at $4,521 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($3,255 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($880 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Olive Imports in Poland
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of olives decreased by -14.2% to 3.5K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.1K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, olive imports dropped to $6.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 30%.
