Onion and Shallot Price in Belarus (CIF) - 2022
The average onion and shallot import price stood at $536 per ton in March 2022, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 65% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $882 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($2,500 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Onion and Shallot Price in Belarus (FOB) - 2022
The average onion and shallot export price stood at $338 per ton in 2022, growing by 36% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild downturn. The export price peaked at $403 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($607 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($189 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+25.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Onion and Shallot Imports in Belarus
In 2022, onion and shallot imports into Belarus declined notably to 9.6K tons, waning by -17.2% compared with the year before. In general, imports showed a sharp curtailment.
