The average onion export price stood at $153 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $283 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($458 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($49 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
