In April 2024, the average onion export price amounted to $447 per ton, with a decrease of -3.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2024 an increase of 18% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $722 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to April 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($565 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($364 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average onion import price stood at $589 per ton in 2022, rising by 3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year.
