Onion Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2024
In March 2024, the average onion import price amounted to $715 per ton, waning by -13.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2024 an increase of 21% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,067 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to March 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,374 per ton), while the price for Germany ($500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average onion export price stood at $856 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -11.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $968 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,053 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($517 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
