Onion Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2024
In March 2024, the average onion import price amounted to $1,181 per ton, with a decrease of -4.5% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a moderate increase from March 2023 to March 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2024 figures, onion import price decreased by -12.4% against January 2024 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 95% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,348 per ton in January 2024; however, from February 2024 to March 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,324 per ton), while the price for Moldova ($580 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2024, the average onion export price amounted to $282 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 63% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,883 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to March 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
