Orange Price in Ecuador (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average orange import price amounted to $725 per ton, with an increase of 20% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2021 an increase of 79% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,438 per ton. From June 2021 to January 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,329 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average orange export price stood at $184 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 235% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $576 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Colombia.

In 2022, overseas purchases of oranges decreased by -60.7% to 4.1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a precipitous decline. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
