Packaging Materials Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average packaging materials export price amounted to $588 per ton, increasing by 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 43%. The export price peaked at $629 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($898 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($411 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Packaging Materials Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average packaging materials import price stood at $1,251 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,277 per ton in 2015; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($2,355 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Packaging Materials Exports in Indonesia
In 2022, shipments abroad of packaging materials decreased by -21% to 996K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 80%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.8M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, packaging materials exports dropped dramatically to $586M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 64%.

Packaging Materials Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, the amount of packaging materials imported into Indonesia surged to 527K tons, jumping by 29% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, packaging materials imports skyrocketed to $659M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
