Paddy Rice Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average paddy rice import price amounted to $223 per ton, with a decrease of -3.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $289 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Tanzania.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kenya amounted to +11.6% per year.
Paddy Rice Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
The average paddy rice export price stood at $610 per ton in 2022, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 128% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $759 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Sudan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Sudan amounted to +83.6% per year.
Paddy Rice Imports in Uganda
Paddy rice imports into Uganda shrank remarkably to 15K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -28.2% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 129%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 21K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
