Paperboard Case Material Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average paperboard case material export price amounted to $601 per ton, which is down by -2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.8% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $852 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($700 per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($428 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Paperboard Case Material Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
The average paperboard case material import price stood at $2,159 per ton in August 2023, waning by -9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, paperboard case material import price decreased by -9.0% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 32% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,373 per ton in July 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($3,510 per ton), while the price for the United States ($891 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Paperboard Case Material Exports in Brazil
In 2022, exports of paperboard case materials from Brazil soared to 639K tons, growing by 83% compared with 2021. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
