Particle Board Price in Norway (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average particle board import price amounted to $500 per cubic meter, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($900 per cubic meter), while the price for Russia ($386 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Particle Board Price in Norway (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average particle board export price amounted to $404 per cubic meter, picking up by 9.1% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.7% against the previous month. The export price peaked in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($577 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($345 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Particle Board Imports in Norway
In 2022, approx. 98K cubic meters of particle board were imported into Norway; shrinking by -34.9% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 151K cubic meters, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Particle Board Exports in Norway
In 2022, shipments abroad of particle board decreased by -7.8% to 177K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 192K cubic meters in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, particle board exports totaled $63M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
