Particle Board Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average particle board export price amounted to $135 per cubic meter, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 2.7% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $139 per cubic meter. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Taiwan (Chinese) ($165 per cubic meter) and Israel ($134 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($123 per cubic meter) and South Korea ($123 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Particle Board Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
The average particle board import price stood at $545 per cubic meter in July 2023, picking up by 34% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest increase from September 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, particle board import price decreased by -17.5% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $660 per cubic meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Romania ($4,134 per cubic meter), while the price for Malaysia ($296 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Particle Board Exports in Thailand
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of particle board, when their volume decreased by -25% to 2.6M cubic meters. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 3.5M cubic meters in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.
In value terms, particle board exports reduced markedly to $391M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +19.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $502M, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Particle Board Imports in Thailand
In 2022, approx. 15K cubic meters of particle board were imported into Thailand; reducing by -17.7% on the year before. Overall, imports recorded a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -7.9% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 30K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, particle board imports contracted to $5.7M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $9.2M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
