Peanut Butter Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average peanut butter export price stood at $2,198 per ton in September 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 2.2% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,236 per ton in June 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Netherlands ($2,451 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,412 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,946 per ton) and Mexico ($1,961 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average peanut butter import price amounted to $5,572 per ton, increasing by 45% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 86% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,658 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($8,262 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($3,654 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Exports in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts increased by 7.3% to 285K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a noticeable downturn.
In value terms, peanut butter exports amounted to $598M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Peanut Butter Imports in China
