Peanut Butter Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average peanut butter export price amounted to $3,646 per ton, which is down by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a modest expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, peanut butter export price increased by +1.9% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 38% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,826 per ton in July 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,807 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($2,537 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average peanut butter import price stood at $4,256 per ton in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 23% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,351 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($7,671 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($2,607 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Exports in Italy
In 2022, overseas shipments of peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts decreased by -43.5% to 6.6K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 13K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, peanut butter exports declined rapidly to $17M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $26M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
