Pear Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average pear export price stood at $788 per ton in November 2023, declining by -5.3% against the previous month. Over the last eleven-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $832 per ton in October 2023, and then declined in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,411 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($222 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pear Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average pear import price stood at $810 per ton in 2022, surging by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, pear import price increased by +59.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,013 per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($248 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Pear Exports in Turkey
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of pears, when their volume decreased by -54.1% to 76K tons. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 103%.
In value terms, pear exports dropped sharply to $48M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 141%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $102M, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
