Pears and Quinces Price in Ghana (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average pears and quinces import price amounted to $698 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,056 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,220 per ton), while the price for South Africa amounted to $653 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-3.1%).
Pears and Quinces Price in Ghana (FOB) - 2022
The average pears and quinces export price stood at $1,167 per ton in 2022, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 265%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,949 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($2,250 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium amounted to $1,133 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burkina Faso (+133.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Pears and Quinces Imports in Ghana
In 2022, supplies from abroad of pears and quinces decreased by -28.8% to 279 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 392 tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, pears and quinces imports plummeted to $195K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 29%.

Pears and Quinces Exports in Ghana
For the third consecutive year, Ghana recorded decline in overseas shipments of pears and quinces, which decreased by -54.6% to 264 kg in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a dramatic curtailment.
In value terms, pears and quinces exports contracted markedly to $308 in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a sharp contraction. The smallest decline of -38.2% was in 2020.
