In 2022, the average petroleum jelly import price amounted to $2,812 per ton, jumping by 65% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,508 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($18,183 per ton), while the price for Iran ($1,124 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+33.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Petroleum Jelly Imports in Azerbaijan
In 2022, supplies from abroad of petroleum jellies decreased by -57% to 8.6 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports showed a dramatic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year.
In value terms, petroleum jelly imports plummeted to $24K in 2022. In general, imports saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $46K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
