The average petroleum jelly import price stood at $1,161 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 12%. The import price peaked at $1,848 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,233 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($661 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average petroleum jelly export price stood at $1,411 per ton in 2022, growing by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 86% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,541 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($2,985 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,321 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
