Petroleum Jelly Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average petroleum jelly export price amounted to $2,142 per ton, shrinking by -2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.6% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,495 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,339 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($1,430 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average petroleum jelly import price stood at $2,363 per ton in 2022, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,460 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,166 per ton), while the price for France ($1,541 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
