In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods import price amounted to $43,728 per ton, dropping by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $47,195 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($111,833 per ton), while the price for Italy ($6,455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods export price amounted to $56,002 per ton, jumping by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 63% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uganda ($85,430 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($18,935 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 39%.
