Pharmaceutical Goods Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods import price amounted to $107,274 per ton, declining by -12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $171,596 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($462,406 per ton), while the price for Italy ($6,202 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pharmaceutical goods export price stood at $40,393 per ton in 2022, surging by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $114,994 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($119,887 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($5,392 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Pharmaceutical Goods Imports in Ukraine
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of pharmaceutical goodses, when their volume decreased by -15.5% to 494 tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 585 tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, pharmaceutical goods imports shrank dramatically to $53M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $71M, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
