Phosphorus Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023

The average phosphorus import price stood at $4,376 per ton in August 2023, jumping by 24% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,864 per ton. From October 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Vietnam.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to -2.2% per month.

Phosphorus Price in Poland (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average phosphorus export price amounted to $5,279 per ton, picking up by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The export price peaked at $6,564 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($7,348 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,881 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Phosphorus Imports in Poland

For the fourth consecutive year, Poland recorded growth in purchases abroad of phosphori, which increased by 5.2% to 31K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, phosphorus imports soared to $115M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, the amount of phosphori exported from Poland expanded notably to 11K tons, picking up by 5.2% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, phosphorus exports soared to $60M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
