Photographic Film Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average photographic film import price amounted to $5.3 per square meter, falling by -5.9% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 44%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5.7 per square meter in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12 per square meter), while the price for China ($4.2 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average photographic film export price amounted to $5.5 per square meter, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, photographic film export price decreased by -14.8% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8.6 per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Fiji ($10 per square meter), while the average price for exports to India ($2.9 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed imported into Australia rose sharply to 9.9M square meters, picking up by 15% on 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 11M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, photographic film imports rose significantly to $53M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In general, exports, however, saw a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 946K square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
