Photographic Paper Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
The average photographic paper export price stood at $2.6 per square meter in 2022, which is down by -49.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $13 per square meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($4.9 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Chile ($1.7 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Photographic Paper Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average photographic paper import price amounted to $1.7 per square meter, increasing by 10% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2.0 per square meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($14.4 per square meter), while the price for the Czech Republic ($1.1 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Photographic Paper Exports in the United States
In 2022, approx. 15M square meters of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles were exported from the United States; reducing by -7% against 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated notable growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +71.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 85% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 16M square meters, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, photographic paper exports plummeted to $38M in 2022. In general, exports showed a sharp reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 29%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $139M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
