Piper Pepper Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average piper pepper export price stood at $6,719 per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 98%. The export price peaked at $9,198 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,367 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($774 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average piper pepper import price amounted to $8,095 per ton, with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $10,115 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Piper Pepper Exports in Sri Lanka
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of piper pepper decreased by -37.5% to 11K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 86%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 18K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, piper pepper exports shrank sharply to $76M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 126% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $125M, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
