Plastic Closure Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average plastic closure export price amounted to $3,819 per ton, picking up by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($4,428 per ton) and Algeria ($4,322 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($3,076 per ton) and Bulgaria ($3,249 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Closure Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average plastic closure import price stood at $7,430 per ton in July 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 26% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,926 per ton. From December 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($13,319 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($3,936 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Closure Exports in Turkey
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of plastic stoppers, caps and closures decreased by -0.5% to 53K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 54K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, plastic closure exports rose notably to $204M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
