Plastic Support Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average plastic support import price amounted to $4,871 per ton, which is down by -4% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,183 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Portugal ($7,321 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($2,553 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Support Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average plastic support export price stood at $4,477 per ton in October 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 10% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,727 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($6,618 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($2,683 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plastic Support Imports in Serbia
In 2022, purchases abroad of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics decreased by -3.1% to 14K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 15K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, plastic support imports reached $64M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
