Plum and Sloe Price in Morocco (FOB) - 2022
The average plum and sloe export price stood at $1,061 per ton in 2022, increasing by 43% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 144%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,508 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($3,871 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($602 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plum and Sloe Price in Morocco (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average plum and sloe import price amounted to $1,152 per ton, picking up by 4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plum and sloe import price increased by +17.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 55%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,414 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($3,590 per ton), while the price for Spain ($980 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plum and Sloe Exports in Morocco
In 2022, overseas shipments of plums and sloes decreased by -50.6% to 618 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 132%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.3K tons, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, plum and sloe exports contracted markedly to $656K in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase.
