Polycarboxylic Acid Price in South Africa (CIF) - 2023
The average polycarboxylic acid import price stood at $860 per ton in September 2023, surging by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $979 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,179 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($769 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Polycarboxylic Acid Price in South Africa (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average polycarboxylic acid export price amounted to $3,489 per ton, with an increase of 33% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($13,102 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,990 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+22.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
