Polyurethanes Price in Greece (FOB) - 2022
The average polyurethanes export price stood at $3,052 per ton in 2022, waning by -1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,211 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,606 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($2,231 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Price in Greece (CIF) - 2022
The average polyurethanes import price stood at $4,433 per ton in 2022, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $4,546 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($5,540 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,812 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Exports in Greece
In 2022, exports of polyurethanes in primary forms from Greece expanded sharply to 19K tons, growing by 5.9% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyurethanes exports expanded modestly to $57M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Polyurethanes Imports in Greece
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of polyurethanes in primary forms decreased by -23.4% to 4.7K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 6.1K tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, polyurethanes imports reduced to $21M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $24M, and then contracted in the following year.
