Polyurethanes Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average polyurethanes import price amounted to $3,753 per ton, surging by 10% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2021 when the average import price increased by 46% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,615 per ton. From February 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($6,913 per ton), while the price for Poland ($696 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
The average polyurethanes export price stood at $3,636 per ton in December 2021, flattening at the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average export price increased by 18% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,703 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($6,739 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($2,832 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Imports in Malaysia
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of polyurethanes in primary forms decreased by -7.2% to 25K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 27K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, polyurethanes imports fell to $87M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $95M, and then contracted in the following year.

Polyurethanes Exports in Malaysia
