Polyurethanes Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average polyurethanes import price amounted to $4,409 per ton, waning by -7.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 15% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,980 per ton. From September 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($7,030 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,170 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average polyurethanes export price amounted to $4,990 per ton, rising by 4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, polyurethanes export price decreased by -29.4% against August 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 74% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,408 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($16,740 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($3,542 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Polyurethanes Imports in Serbia
In 2022, approx. 3.8K tons of polyurethanes in primary forms were imported into Serbia; with an increase of 6.8% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyurethanes imports rose markedly to $17M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Polyurethanes Exports in Serbia
For the fourth year in a row, Serbia recorded growth in shipments abroad of polyurethanes in primary forms, which increased by 18% to 334 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +58.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyurethanes exports rose notably to $1.4M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
