Potato Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2023
The average potato import price stood at $83.7 per ton in May 2023, with a decrease of -21.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 164% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $484 per ton. From August 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($164 per ton), while the price for Kyrgyzstan ($56.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Potato Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2022
The average potato export price stood at $215 per ton in 2022, declining by -49.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $650 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($414 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($180 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Potato Imports in Uzbekistan
Potato imports into Uzbekistan skyrocketed to 555K tons in 2022, with an increase of 241% against 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
