Poultry Price in Bahrain (CIF) - 2022
The average poultry import price stood at $2,504 per ton in 2022, growing by 19% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($3,579 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,239 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Poultry Price in Bahrain (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average poultry export price amounted to $3,665 per ton, with an increase of 154% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted mild growth. The export price peaked at $5,298 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($4,871 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($1,743 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Poultry Imports in Bahrain
In 2022, poultry imports into Bahrain was estimated at 57K tons, picking up by 8.8% against the year before. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 10%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 64K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, poultry imports soared to $142M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Poultry Exports in Bahrain
In 2022, shipments abroad of poultry decreased by -86.3% to 636 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 852% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.6K tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, poultry exports fell markedly to $2.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 201%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $6.7M, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
