Preserved Olive Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average preserved olive export price amounted to $2,027 per ton, falling by -3.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,113 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($2,044 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Preserved Olive Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average preserved olive import price stood at $2,921 per ton in 2022, rising by 20% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 72%. The import price peaked at $3,182 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Jordan ($2,921 per ton) and Lebanon ($2,921 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,921 per ton) and Turkey ($2,921 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Exports in Egypt
For the third year in a row, Egypt recorded decline in shipments abroad of olives prepared or preserved, which decreased by -5.5% to 35K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -0.5% was in 2020.
In value terms, preserved olive exports declined to $70M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 42%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $88M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
