Preserved Olive Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average preserved olive import price amounted to $1,362 per ton, reducing by -4.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 5.2% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,479 per ton. From July 2021 to January 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Greece ($2,103 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,270 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Preserved Olive Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average preserved olive export price amounted to $2,192 per ton, rising by 8.1% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 when the average export price increased by 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in January 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($2,266 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($2,117 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Olive Imports in Russia
In 2022, approx. 71K tons of olives prepared or preserved were imported into Russia; growing by 2.2% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 15%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 72K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, preserved olive imports reached $100M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced curtailment.

Preserved Olive Exports in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of olives prepared or preserved decreased by -8.2% to 2K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.2K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, preserved olive exports fell to $3.9M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +36.3% against 2019 indices.
