Preserved Sardines Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average preserved sardines export price stood at $6,485 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -8.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 23% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $7,072 per ton in May 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,668 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($4,149 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sardines Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
The average preserved sardines import price stood at $5,497 per ton in May 2023, growing by 4.1% against the previous month. Over the period from May 2022 to May 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 66% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,877 per ton. From December 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($9,162 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($4,152 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sardines Exports in Poland
In 2022, preserved sardines exports from Poland expanded notably to 13K tons, surging by 7.9% against 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, preserved sardines exports rose remarkably to $64M in 2022. Preserved Sardines Imports in Poland
In 2022, purchases abroad of sardines (prepared or preserved) decreased by -17.3% to 1.5K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 4.9%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preserved sardines imports contracted to $7.4M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
