Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average preserved sweet corn export price amounted to $1,407 per ton, growing by 12% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,549 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($1,264 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average preserved sweet corn import price amounted to $1,863 per ton, falling by -8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,602 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,721 per ton), while the price for France totaled $1,811 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Preserved Sweet Corn Exports in Brazil
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved decreased by -12.1% to 21K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 31%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 24K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports expanded sharply to $25M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +21.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
