Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
The average preserved sweet corn export price stood at $2,165 per ton in September 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, preserved sweet corn export price decreased by -3.8% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 32% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,251 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Greece ($2,643 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,711 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sweet Corn Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average preserved sweet corn import price amounted to $1,685 per ton, rising by 4.4% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,886 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($3,174 per ton), while the price for China ($995 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Sweet Corn Exports in Hungary
In 2022, shipments abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved decreased by -0.2% to 186K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 6.8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 193K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, preserved sweet corn exports expanded slightly to $259M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
