The average import price for acids; acyclic polycarboxylic acids; oxalic acid, its salts and esterses stood at $1,328 per ton in 2022, reducing by -6.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,576 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,317 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $693 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of acids; acyclic polycarboxylic acids; oxalic acid, its salts and esterses, when their volume decreased by -22.8% to 15 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 90%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 19 tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of acids; acyclic polycarboxylic acids; oxalic acid, its salts and esterses shrank rapidly to $20K in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 127%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $27K, and then dropped notably in the following year.
