The average import price for acids; aromatic polycarboxylic acids; phthalic anhydrides stood at $1,055 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 4.9% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,181 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,360 per ton) and Iran ($1,168 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,034 per ton) and Belarus ($1,133 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in supplies from abroad of acids; aromatic polycarboxylic acids; phthalic anhydrides, which increased by 1.4% to 59K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of acids; aromatic polycarboxylic acids; phthalic anhydrides skyrocketed to $78M in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
