In October 2023, the average import price for alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses amounted to $22,020 per ton, dropping by -43.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 890% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $314K per ton. From April 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($174K per ton), while the price for China ($3,622 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+24.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses amounted to $98,182 per ton, rising by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 136%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($117,694 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($7,135 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+21.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Alcohols; Cyclic, and Their Halogenated, Sulphonated, Nitrated or Nitrosated Derivatives in Ukraine

In 2022, supplies from abroad of alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses decreased by -2.5% to 127 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 31%.

In value terms, imports of alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses shrank dramatically to $2.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a significant decrease. The smallest decline of -9.7% was in 2020.

Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 114%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 28 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses soared to $1.7M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 92%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
