The average import price for alkali or alkali-earth metals; calcia stood at $2,986 per ton in 2022, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 41%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,219 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($7,695 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,002 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Alkali or Alkali-Earth Metals; Calcium in Myanmar
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of alkali or alkali-earth metals; calcia, when their volume decreased by -42% to 12 tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 155% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21 tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, alkali or alkali-earth metals; calcium imports shrank remarkably to $37K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 123%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $51K, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
