In January 2024, the average import price for alloy steel flat-rolled products, of a width 600mm or mores amounted to $1,207 per ton, falling by -4.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 19% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,636 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,826 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($618 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In January 2024, the average export price for alloy steel flat-rolled products, of a width 600mm or mores amounted to $925 per ton, waning by -23.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 72% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,794 per ton. From September 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($5,107 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($732 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of alloy steel flat-rolled products, of a width 600mm or mores, when their volume decreased by -5.2% to 1.5M tons. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +39.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.6M tons, and then shrank in the following year.

Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion.
