The average import price for alloy steel, flat-rolled, width 600mm or more, cold-rolleds stood at $1,180 per ton in May 2024, picking up by 26% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,320 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to May 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,594 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($850 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In May 2024, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($7,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($628 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
