The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $2,789 per ton in December 2023, with a decrease of -7.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,212 per ton. From August 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($3,067 per ton), while the price for China ($2,606 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in December 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($22,595 per ton), while the average price for exports to Namibia ($1,306 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Swaziland (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
