The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $6,309 per ton in November 2023, with a decrease of -2.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 32% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8,771 per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,844 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($3,723 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $10,049 per ton in November 2023, shrinking by -17.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $12,213 per ton in October 2023, and then shrank markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($40,503 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($4,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Aluminium; Alloys, Bars, Rods and Profiles, Other than Hollow in the UK
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows increased by 24% to 95K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows surged to $622M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +89.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
