The average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms stood at $4,100 per ton in March 2024, waning by -6.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 31% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,835 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to March 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Norway ($4,082 per ton), while the price for Turkey totaled $3,221 per ton.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In March 2024, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $5,890 per ton, increasing by 7.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2024 when the average export price increased by 21% m-o-m. The export price peaked in March 2024.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Faroe Islands ($7,672 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($4,039 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Faroe Islands (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strip of Thickness Exceeding 0.2 Mm in Denmark
In 2022, approx. 106K tons of aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms were imported into Denmark; which is down by -5.9% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 113K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
