In March 2024, the average export price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms amounted to $3,985 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 4.4% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,338 per ton. From May 2023 to March 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In March 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Ireland ($4,568 per ton) and the United States ($4,482 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($3,106 per ton) and Turkey ($3,429 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for aluminium plates, sheets and strip of thickness exceeding 0.2 mms stood at $4,001 per ton in 2022, surging by 5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 65% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($5,558 per ton), while the price for China ($3,445 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
